The British High Commission in Nigeria has announced the opening of a new temporary submission centre for UK visas in Enugu State from September 2023.

The facility will operate from Omedel Luxury Hotel, 4/6 Link Road off Pascal and Jerk Bus stop, Independent Layout, Enugu and will offer a twice-a-week service.

The new location will be opened on September 13 and will be tried for at least three months to assess uptake of the service and enable decisions on continuation.

The temporary submission centre in Enugu opens only as a premium location as it will cost ₦246,250, which includes a premium lounge appointment, courier return, SMS notifications, general customer support and guidance.

This new appointment system means applicants will be able to select Enugu as their application location when applying for a UK visa. Previously, the submission centres in Nigeria were in Abuja, Port-Harcourt and Lagos State (which is in Victoria Island and Ikeja).

Speaking on the launch of the temporary location, Richard Montgomery, British High Commissioner to Nigeria and the UK Permanent Representative to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) said, “I’m very pleased that UK Visas & Immigration is trialling a new visa application facility in Enugu. It was a key request from the Governor of the State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and others during my recent visits to the state. I hope this works and helps strengthen our links.”

Since courier return has been included in the premium location fees, applicants will be notified once their application has been processed by the UK decision-making authority.

The passport will be collected to be delivered by UKVI’s courier delivery partner, and applicants will be able to track delivery on their website. Users will be notified by email when the passport is dispatched, along with information on how to track the delivery.
